Bacteria existed long before humans. They are the oldest creatures on this planet. Bacteria are so minute that they can only be seen under the aid of a microscope. Bacteria under a microscope show their unique structure that makes them different from other organisms. Bacteria are usually found on the soil, underwater and even on other organisms. There are types of bacteria under a microscope that can cause great harm to plants, animals and humans alike but there are also some bacteria that are beneficial and other organisms can’t live without.

Antibiotics can treat these diseases, however there are some bacteria that can’t be killed, they only be prevented. Prevention of these bacteria can be possible by using antiseptics, disinfectants and sterilization.
The beneficial bacteria are also called good bacteria. They are the bacteria that help produce the food we eat. They also help in keeping the soil fertile. Bacteria are also responsible in helping us digest our food. The role of bacteria in our digestive system is converting the milk protein to lactic acid.
