The wonder of human body is amazing. We can work everyday, we digest food, and our blood circulates all over our body and sends signals to our brain. We can do whatever we want to do but there are some things that hinder us from doing all these and they are called germs. Germs are forms of bad bacteria that attack our body. They are the bacteria under a microscope. These germs are so small that we cannot see them with our naked eye. Some kids think that the bugs and other dirt they see are called germs. These dirty objects carry millions of germs and most of the kids are not aware of it. Germs are so small that they can get inside out bodies without us noticing it. They cause our bodies to be sick and they make us weak. This is the only way we notice that we have been attacked by germs. These germs can be seen under a microscope. Germs are classified into four major types; they are the bacteria, viruses, fungi and protozoa. These germs can attack plants, animals and humans.
Bacteria under a microscope are one celled organisms that get their food from the environment to survive. Most bacteria feed on human body. These bacteria are inside our body cause infections and diseases. The most common diseases from bacteria are sore throat, ear infections, cavities and pneumonia. But not all bacteria are bad, there are some bacteria that are good and they keep the environment balance. These good bacteria can be found in our intestines. They help us the digest the food and distribute the nutrients all over our body and out to waste what is not needed by our bodies. Good bacteria are also used by doctors and scientists to make medicines that cure diseases.
Viruses need another living cell in order to survive. These viruses can not survive very long if they do not have a host. The host of these viruses can be from a plant, animal or human beings. The virus inside the body can cause sickness such as chickenpox, measles, flu and other diseases that are transmittable. To avoid getting sick from these viruses, it is advised to wash regularly because these viruses can be found anywhere.
Fungi are multi celled organisms that look like plants but unlike plants these fungi can not make their own food. These fungi can get their food from plants, animals and human. Fungi structure can be seen under a microscope. They are so small and they usually live in damp and warm places. Fungi are less harmful compared to bacteria and viruses. Fungi can cause athlete’s foot and molds on our bread.
Protozoa are one celled organisms that can be found in moist area. These kinds of germs spread through water. The most common diseases caused by protozoa are diarrhea, nausea and other stomach pain. The germs inside our body invade us and eat all the nutrients and energy. They also produce body toxins that are poison to the body. These toxins can cause us fever, rashes, cough and diarrhea. Doctors find out about the harmful effects of bacteria by studying the samples sent to the laboratory. Doctors and scientists conduct series of test to the samples submitted to them under a microscope.
Bacteria under a microscope show the damage caused by these germs to our body. The doctors can tell how these tiny organisms cause sickness to humans. Most germs spread without our notice. When somebody sneezes on the bus, people beside the person might contract the germs from that person. Germs also spread through saliva, sweat and blood. We can easily acquire germs when we come in close contact with people who are sick. To protect ourselves from these germs most doctors advise constant washing and taking vitamins for protection.
